Wedding Photography vs Wedding Film vs Wedding Podcast

What wedding photography, wedding videography and a wedding podcast each capture, what they miss, and how to decide what to prioritise for your budget.

By Benny Rod / 5 min read

If your budget only stretches to one or two, it helps to know exactly what each one keeps. The simplest way to think about it: photography keeps how it looked, film keeps how it felt, and a podcast keeps what people said.

Wedding photography

What it keeps: the look of the day, the details, the faces, the moments in between. Photographs are what you will frame, print and show people most.

What it misses: sound and movement. You will remember the speech was funny, not what was said.

Wedding film

What it keeps: movement, music, vows and speeches, the emotion of the day in sequence.

What it misses: most guests. A film follows the couple and the key moments, so the people in the background rarely speak.

Wedding podcast

What it keeps: the voices and stories of your guests, in conversation, including people who would never give a speech.

What it misses: the ceremony and the look of the day, which is why it works best alongside photography or film rather than instead of them.

How to prioritise

  • If you can only choose one, most couples choose photography.
  • If you want to relive the day, add film.
  • If the people matter more than the setting, add the podcast. It is also the most affordable way to capture guests on camera.

You can book any of these on their own or combine them. See packages to build your own.
